Boys Card

It's been a bit of a funny day today, don't know whether I am coming or going! I've spent the last two days preparing for Technique classes but have had to put them off for this month as more and more of my regular attendees cancelled. So to cheer myself up I thought I'd look through my cards and see what I could upload onto my blog!
This card uses one of the new sets from the Summer Mini Catalogue. It's called In The Stars.
The colours I've used are Real Red and Not Quite Navy. The red stripe is the wide grosgrain ribbon in Real Red and the background is the big background stamp Sanded. The words come from the Family Phrases set. Hope you like it!

Victorian Bushfire Appeal

I've just finished night duty for the week and I thought I would load an update before I head off to bed.
This quick little card I made for my B.I.L's recent birthday and it uses one of my favourite sets - Baroque Motifs. To aid the Victorian Bushfire Red Cross Appeal, Stampin'Up! are donating 50% of their profits from the sale of this set and other select sets to the fundraising appeal to help the thousands of people affected by the recent fires here in Victoria. So far over $15,000 has been raised by our customers purchasing these sets! If you would like to help out please email me to make an order.
To make the card I used Close to Cocoa folded card, stamped Baroque Motifs in White Craft ink. added Choc chip double stitched ribbon and finished it off with Say it with Scallops stamped in Close to Cocoa and punched out with the Square Scallop punch all from the Summer Mini catalogue. You could jazz this up further with Dazzling Diamonds or brads.
This is my idea of a great in a hurry card, you know when you suddenly realise that the birthday card you've been meaning to make should have been in the mail 2 days ago!!!!!!

Carousel Notes

I thought I would show you a novel way to use the Carousel Notes which are one of the new items available in the Summer Mini catalogue. I actually CASE'd this idea from Splitcoast Stampers - thankyou to the talented stamper who came up with this idea! ( You'll find the link to Splitcoast Stampers under my list of websites I Can't Survive Without!). Always have a lot of time up your sleeve when you go into this site - you will become totally absorbed and amazed by the creations and resources there.
Anyway I digress, back to the card! What I have done is cut one Carousel Note in half - in this case a Soft Sky one and then I cut in along the indentations to create petals. The white centre is a scallop punch piece of Whisper White card with a circle punch piece of So Saffron stamped with one of the flower centres from Pick A Petal. All of this was mounted on a White Confetti folded card that has been stamped with Polka Dot background using Versamark ink. To create dimension the petals are randomly lifted off the card by sticking them down with Stampin'Dimensionals.
I placed twill tape along the side and the wording is actually done using Rub Ons from the Urban West set ( page 141 of the I&R book) of rub ons. I've not been a big fan of rub ons in the past but since I bought some of Stampin'Up's product I am in love with them!!!!! As you can see they have adhered beautifully to the twill tape.
This was such a quick and easy card to make and would make anyone feel special to receive it.
Hope is all good in your world and please spare a thought for the many families affected by the terrible bushfires here in Victoria.

More Matchbook cards!

Here is another of my Matchbook cards. You can't see it clearly in the photo but the bottom is caught by a lip of card just like the little match sets you get free with advertising on them. I did have the other one uploaded as well but my computer keeps disconnecting and it is making the whole process very frustrating!!!!
I basically CASE'd this card from the Summer Mini Catalogue on page 6. I just played around with it a bit more and added extra detail. If you'd like to view the catalogue click on the Stampin'Up! catalogue to the left of this post for the link to all the latest catalogues.
The card is Chocolate Chip textured cardstock and the images are stamped on Whisper White card. Ink colours are Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi & Soft Sky. The White craft Ink pad was used for the greeting.
This card makes use of lots of the punches again using the scallop punch and the circle punches. the Designer Series paper is from the Afternoon Tea pack of papers.
Don't forget to order your Designer Series papers before March 31 while they are $11.95 still, as many of these lovely designs will be retiring and also those that remain will have the originally intended price reattached to them of $16.95. Please give me a call or email me if you would like to place an order!

Matchbook Cards

This is one of three cards I am also doing in workshops during Sale-a-bration. It is a matchbook card. We learnt these at Regionals in November last year and I have been wanting to come up with some new versions since then.
For this card I used Bashful blue textured cardstock as the base and the flowers are done in Barely Banana and Groovy Guava with Green Galore stems. The flowers are stamped in Barely Banana using the Sale-a-bration set Polka Dot Punches with the flowers then punched out with the co-ordinating 5 Petal Punch. The punches work beautifully with this set and have been a big hit at my workshops.
The centres are punches out using the 1/2" circle punch after being stamped in Groovy Guavea ink. The finishing touch is the Pumpin Pie eyelet set in place using the Cropa dile. I love that gadget - it makes eyelet setting an absolute breeze!
Finally the sentiment is from Family Phrases and is stamped in Staz -On black ink on groovy Guava card scrap.
I'll try and upload the othe 2 cards I'm doing in this style for customers to choose from at Workshops.

Workshop cards for Sale-a-bration

These are the cards I am currently demonstrating and my customers get to make at my Sale-a-bration workshops during Feb and March. They are known as Buckle cards due to the buckle or belt on the front.
If you would like to learn how to put together one of these cards you can contact me through my profile via phone or email to book a workshop with me.
The sets I've used are going from the left :-
Live Your Dream from the current summer mini catalogue.
Botanical Blooms from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. You can earn this stamp set for free when you spend $100 on Stampin'Up! products during Feb and March!
Big Pieces and Little Pieces sets from the 2008 Idea Book & Catalogue.
Apologies for the photo - still coming to gripes with getting good shots!
For these cards I've used quite a few of the punches from Stampin'Up!. It is a great card to make to feel you are getting full value from all your kit! The punches used are the Word Window, Scallop Edger(from the current Summer Mini catalogue), Circle punches 1 3/8, 1 1/4 & 1/2 inch.
Hope you like them!

My First Upload!

I've slowly been working out this computer business! Slowly being the operative word! I have (with a bit of help - thankyou DH!) managed to take a photo of one of my recent cards with my new camera ( Lumix) that I bought especially for my trip to South Africa in April. That's another post that I will fill you in on at another time!
And we have managed to upload it to the computer and to here! Yeah, I know most of you get this done in your sleep - I'm just a newbie at this!
Any way back to my card - I made this for my son's 20th birthday in January and was very pleased with how it turned out. It was very appropriate seeing as he is a carpentry apprentice! The set For Father is in the current Stampin'Up! Summer Mini catalogue which you can view here. I originally didn't order this set but after seeing so many lovely samples using it I decided I would just have to add it to my ever expanding collection!
I have stamped the background stamp Sanded Kraft card with Versamark. The image was coloured on Stampin'Up! watercolour card using an aqua painter and the inkpads for colour. I mounted it onto Real Red then Basic Black card. The ribbon is from the Ribbon Originals set Jersey. I added the black brads and finished off with the saying from Family Phrases punched out using the large oval punch.
DS was tickled pink with it!
Okay my first card post done - I will try again soon and show you the cards I am doing in my workshops during Sale-a-bration.
Have a lovely day!
