Wedding Build a Banner

I am sad to say that  I have been pretty quiet on here for awhile. I have been very busy with my mother who has a serious illness, been hospitalised and is now in Aged Care. So stamping has taken a back seat for me over the past few weeks. I have made some Christmas cards which I really enjoyed. I'll share them in a later post.

However for this post I wanted to share with you the banner I created for my son Alex's wedding to his partner Sarah.

The wedding was a wonderful celebration all about them and their love for each other. Sarah and Alex's theme was for a country rustic feel to the decor so the banner I created fitted in beautifully.

The ink colours I used were Soft Suede and Night of Navy. I added embellishments like rhinestones and paper roses. Below are some of the preparation photos I took while making the individual banner pennants.

A lot of masking needed to take place on each pennant but as I worked through the banner I found I was quicker at doing each one, so what I thought would take me a week ended up being only 3 days work. And that was not solid time at it I was on holidays after all! the Build a Banner kit includes all the pennants, stencils and one spritzer bottle. You add extra spritzers if required and your choice of reinkers. I also used the Hearts stencil from the Hearts and Stars Decorative Masks. It was a lot of fun to create plus knowing it was for a very special occasion made the effort all worth it!

And here are the happy couple!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin'Up! Build a Banner Simply Created® Kit

My eldest son and his lovely fiance tie the knot in less than two weeks time and for the past year (I know!) I have been planning to create a wedding banner to go across the wedding arch or on the front of the bridal table. As you know life gets a tad busy at times and things that are planned keep getting put off, well it's now getting a bit too close for comfort! So a few days away for a short holiday after a tumultuous few weeks sees me busily creating my banner. I will share it with you when completed but in the meantime here is a Stamp'Up! video showing how terrific this banner is and all the goodies included in it.

Cheers

Season of Cheer Washi Tape Christmas Card

A few posts back I showed off  this washi tape Christmas card and said I would be back with another one using the Season of Cheer washi tape collection. Well here it is!

I really like the colours and patterns created by the washi tape plus I think it is a bit different to your traditional Christmas card. What do you think?

The card base is Pear Pizzazz and the washi tape is adhered over Whisper White card.

The stamped and punched sentiment comes form one of the Host sets at the back of the 2015 Holiday catalogue. You can choose one of these sets as part of your Stampin'Rewards when you make an order of $250 or more.  Have a look at the two sets you can choose from on page 51 of the Holiday catalogue.

The cute star buttons are also one of the Holiday cattie items. They come in Home for Christmas Designer Buttons pack. I tied gold metallic thread through the button holes to complete the look.

Hope you like my card. I'd love to know your thoughts about it so please leave a comment below.

Cheers!

White Christmas Window Frame Corner Pop Up Card

I have been meaning to share this card from last months class where we created Corner Pop Up cards. this card was the most popular sample that my class ladies recreated so it was handled quite a lot, hence the ink mark on it - sorry. I should have taken photos before class. I did of the other samples but not his one, naughty me!

The new Hearth & Home framelits 139666 in the 2015 Holiday Catalogue offer so much potential for creating fascinating cards. I have seen loads of lovely ideas on Pinterest. The stamp set used here is White Christmas 135767 from the Stampin'Up!  2015 Annual Catalogue. I liked the way I could vary the window view using this stamp set.

I cut my Whisper White card to 2 1/2 x 3 inches and stamped my scene. Before adding any litlle extras like the bird, position your window frame over the stamped piece to make sure your little extras don't get hidden by the window bars.

This stamp set being photopolymer means you can shape the tree stamp image to make the snow covered hill higher or lower. There was some fussy cutting required to cut out the banner but it was not as hard as I thought it might be! The addition of the fine tip glue pen makes gluing fine items like this banner an absolute breeze.

If creating this style of card I would suggest when you come to do the sentiment position the sentiment and mat on the open popped up card so as you end up adhering the sentiment in the correct orientation.

Colours used are Cherry Cobbler, Mint Macaron, Sahara Sand and Whisper White card.
Inks are Soft Suede, Soft Sky and Cherry Cobbler.

I hope you like my card!

Cheers,

Janine

Why Reinvent the Wheel?

When time is at a premium it is always good to have a few quick ideas up your sleeve. One I like to use is if I have a card sketch I like then I reuse it using different stamp sets and card colours. It is a great way to challenge yourself to think of new ways to get more out of your stamp sets. As the title says - why reinvent the wheel?

I CASE'd the card below in July to use for a workshop from Do Stamping With Dawn. I love this card for it's simplicity! Also love the stamp set - Wild About Flowers.

My dilemma, I needed a card for my team members to make at my Team Night this week, some of them have already made this card, so I like the card sketch, it's a quick and easy card to create, so I came up with a couple of other options to create Christmas cards using stamp sets form the 2015 Holiday catalogue.

This card uses Flurry of Wishes stamp set and it has a matching Snow Flurry punch. If you buy these as a bundle you save 15% off the price of buying them individually. I'm quite chuffed with this card, it might even be my Christmas card for this year.

My second card was created using Your Presents stamp set and a technique known as "kissing". This stamp set was designed with this technique in mind. Kissing can be done in two ways. I have done reverse kissing if there is such a term! I inked my solid stamp then placed the pattern stamp onto the solid stamp to remove ink and then stamped the resulting image onto my card stock.

The other way is to ink up the patterned stamp, then stamp it on the solid stamp to transfer the inked pattern, then stamp the solid stamp on your card stock. Both ways look really effective.

I know I go on about all the great products Stampin'Up! make but the gold and silver cord in the Holiday catalogue is so fabulous! When I first joined Stampin'Up! eight plus years ago there was similar cord in the catalogue then and when it retired a couple of years later I was very disappointed. Whenever Stampin'Up! would have discussions about what products we wish we could have again, I always pleaded for the metallic cord to return and look, my pleading paid off!

I'm looking forward to a fun team night and I know everyone is going to really enjoy creating this card sketch and then sharing it with their team members and customers.

Cheers!

Winter Wonderland Washi Tape Christmas Card

My latest favourite style of card to create are washi tape cards! You may have seen some of my earlier posts. I love creating these cards! It must be the OCD side of me as they are so neat and perfect looking!
Of course there are new washi tape collections in the new Holiday 2015 catalogue so I just had to try them out on a card.

So here is my Christmas card using the Winter Wonderland Designer Washi tape.

These washi tapes are gold metallic and gorgeous! I also broke open my new pack of metallic foil doilies and these matched in perfectly. Then to crown the whole card off I added my favourite annual catalogue product, gold metallic thread. The random swirling of thread behind images is all the fashion right now.

The sentiment comes from a stamp set in the Holiday catalogue - A Little Something 139827. Card stock is Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White.

Stay tuned for a future post where I will share my Season of Cheer washi tape card.

Thanks for coming along to my blog!

Cheers!
