Back to Black Napkin Fold Card

Tomorrow I am flying off to the warmer climes of the Gold Coast in Queensland for the annual Stampin'Up! Convention. I will add posts here to keep you updated on each day of Convention.

Before I leave I wanted to share another of my class samples from my Napkin Fold card classes last week.

I love the Back to Black Designer Series Paper and w3ith the retirement list now released you can now purchase these papers and other sets of DSP from the retiring annual catalogue at 50% discount - wow what a bargain! I have stocked up on my favourite papers from this catalogue!

So here is the card closed and below that is the card opened.

The stamps used come from the matching stamp set for this set of papers A Happy Hooray and the hostess set  Because You Care. Both these sets are retiring also.

I'll be in touch next time from the Gold Coast!

One Layer Card Using Moon Lake Stamp Set

I love creating one layer cards using a masked sponging technique. They are relatively quick to create, the longest part is deciding what colours to use for the stamp set you have chosen!

This is one of the cards I made for our recent Paper Arts Paper Expo display. This sponged background is a great way to show off detailed stamp sets with out having to spend time colouring them in.

For this particular card I decided to go a bit lighter with the sponging and not make the colour too vibrant as I felt softer was better for a "Thinking of You" card.

Colours used for the sponging are Pool Party, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey.

Until next post, Cheers!

Four Feathers - Crayon Resist Card

When I purchased the Four Feathers stamp set from the Holiday catalogue last year I knew I wanted to create a Crayon Resist card using the set. It has only taken me 7 months to get around to getting it made but here it is!

The excuse to get the card made was I making sample cards for our upcoming Stampin'Up! stand and display at the Paper Arts Tarts Show on this weekend at the Melbourne Showgrounds. See more here.

To create Crayon Resist all you have to do is :-

Stamp images on glossy or semigloss cardstock using
Basic Black Classic Ink or Stazon ink.  With a white
crayon, colour in areas that you wish to remain white.
Sponge or bray classic ink over the images.
Use multiple colours or a spectrum pad.   After the
ink has dried, wipe off the crayon with a tissue.

As Stampin'Up! unfortunatley no longer have gloss card in their catalogue since I did these class
instructions some years ago, I have used our regular Whisper White cardstock which works fine for the technique.

Colours used are Pool Party card and ink and Hello Honey ink.

I really like it!

Love is Kindness Card - Dry Embossed Vellum Technique

A few posts ago I mentioned I would share another of the cards from my last set of technique classes. Here is one of the Dry Embossed vellum cards we made using the Love is Kindness stamp from the current Occasions catalogue.

I have also made this card up in Pool Party card which I think looks even prettier but I haven't taken a photo yet. When I do I will add it to this post.  See below for the Pool Party version! This one was done in Pink Pirouette.

So I have dry embossed the tulips and added some colour with an Old Olive marker by colouring in the leaves and stems on the back of the image. If you would like to know how to create this look go to this post.

The embossing folder is Lovely Lace.

I do like this single stamp. If you didn't want the words on your card you could mask them off as you stamp, or do as a lot of demonstrators do, cut the words off the stamp and mount them separately. I like the quotation so I kept it on my stamp. I'm not sure that this stamp will continue past the Occasions catalogue which ends June 2nd so if it is on your wish list you only have a couple of months to save up for it.

The card is finished off with white satin ribbon and Subtles Candy Dots. I really like it!

Hope you are having a lovely Easter.

Berry Basket - Happy Easter

Happy Easter! Here is my Berry Basket creation which I used as an Easter gift Basket. I had this design as one of my Team Day projects so as everyone attending could have a play with the Berry Basket die plus the Stampin'Up! Decorative Masks.

If you haven't seen these masks in the catalogue, they are page 205. You have a choice of Hearts and Stars or Dots and Stripes. So for the basket I cut it out using the Big Shot and then using the star mask/stencil I sponged Early Espresso ink onto the Kraft Cardstock, which is a heavier weight card available in the Annual catalogue page 192.

The basket trim was stamped with the Chalk Lines stamp set, as was the handle. Flower stamp is from Petal Potpourri and punched out using the matching Flower Medallion punch.

The thankyou tag is from the Tea Party stamp set.

I hope the Easter bunny came to visit - Happy Easter!
