Here is one of the sample cards my class ladies had for inspiration in my technique class this month. Dry embossing vellum is an old technique but it is so good to dust off some of those old techniques and take a new look at them again. Funny how everything old gets a new lease of life every so often!
Once I got started with creating sample cards for class I could not stop! I found so many of my current stamp sets were ideal for this technique. I'll show your more samples in future posts.
If you are wanting to get the most out of a stamp set, before you purchase you should be asking yourself how many different ways can I use this stamp and how many different occasions can I use it for? That is the sensible and economic way of stamp purchasing! I know I am often guilty of letting my heart rule my stamp buying!!!!!! Well I have just given you a new technique to convince yourself that you can buy that pretty floral stamp that you love!
The card above uses the set "Indescribable Gift " 137180 and I bought it as soon as I saw it as I am always a sucker for a pretty flower stamp! Of course I bought it thinking that it will look great coloured with Blendabilities - and it does but sadly the Blendabilities have been withdrawn from sale so it is terrific to have a different technique to show off this lovely stamp.
Enjoy trying out this technique and I know you will be searching your craft drawers for that stylus you bought years ago! If you have the Simply Scored Scoring Tool than grab your stylus from there!
Here is how you create this lovely look with your stamps - On vellum card stock, stamp your image in Staz-On black ink and allow to dry. Turn vellum over and rub over back of image with waxed lunch wrap. Place onto a foam pad, using circular motion rub over the areas you want to lighten and raise. Use a small circular motion as you dry emboss to avoid lines appearing in your lightened areas.
