I have not had much time in recent weeks to put ink to card as we are renovating our kitchen plus I am in the midst of selling my Mum's home and rehousing all her belongings ( a lot have ended up here at my place ). So it was good to have a reason to sit down and christen some of my new Sale-a-bration stamp sets and try out a new technique I'd seen in a recent papercrafting magazine.
My cards needed to be quick and easy as limited space and time to work with. My first card uses a technique that many of you will be familiar with - Resist technique but this one uses watered down ink from your stamp pad or reinkers.
The stamp set is my favourite Sale-a-bration set - Botanicals for You 141234. You can earn this set and others for free by making a $90 Aust Stampin'Up! order during Sale-a-bration which is running until March 31. The resist technique is quite easy, all you need is to clear emboss your stamped image, then smoosh some ink onto your Stampin'Up! inkpad lid, spray a bit of water in with the ink to dilute it. Take a paint brush and brush over your embossed image until you have the depth of colour you desire. Allow to dry, rub over with a tissue to remove ink from the embossed image and then fix to your card front. Easy peasy!!!!!
I used Stampin'Up! glimmer card for my card matt. It does not buckle when damp and gives you the glimmer sparkle through the coloured impression. A few rhinestones to the flower centres and my card was done.
The card front was matted onto Basic Black card and then adhered to Whisper White Thick card for the base.
My other project for you is really easy! This card uses two of the Sale-a-bration offerings - Perfect Pairings 141258 stamp set and Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper 141022.
A lovely simple card to create when you are in need of a card in a hurry! All you have to do is cut your four card matts, stamp your greeting and adhere it all to your folded Whisper White thick card. Add your embellishments, for mine I added sequin hearts from the Brights sequin collection, and you are done! Toooo easy!
I think this dandelion paper is divine! Make a whole bunch of cards at one time and your birthday card needs will be covered. There are some lovely designs in the Wildflower Fields 12x12 papers so you can cover both male and female cards with this card layout and these papers.

Two great cards Janine. I love the depth that the water colour wash gives the just for you on your first card. I bet it has been so frustrating with everything going on, but it is all going to be worth it when you finish! You can rediscover all those lovely stamps again....oh & cooking in your lovely new kitchen if you must!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tricia! Using a paintbrush gives a far better depth of colour than an aqua painter plus you get the brushstrokes coming across. Yes the new kitchen is going to be a real treat!

DeleteOh these are wonderful Janine. Your resist card is so bright and vibrant. I will have to get out my embossing powder and have another go at this.
ReplyDeleteThe team had fun playing with this technique at Team night.I must try it again with other colour combos. I find I tend to not do embossing as think it is time consuming but am always pleasantly surprised when I do it!
